We are still PIRATES!!!

Jay and I are very excited to be at the ECU Bowl game in Washington DC! These are our faces at the end of the game.  Even though our Pirates didn't bring the victory home, we still bleed purple and gold. We were able to go see the monuments at night and it was an amazing site! More pictures to come!

I "heart" yellow cake!

--->My best friend Lori!

I was talking to my best friend and she was telling me that since they were snowed in they had made yellow cake and homemade chocolate icing...Oh how I heart warm yellow cake! Then my brain awoke and remembered that my momma wrote down her famous homemade chocolate icing recipe for me when Jay and I got married. Great idea came to mind...yellow cake and icing! YUM-O

I did realize that it shouldn't stay in our house so we had a yellow loaf with icing on top and then I sent the rest with Jay to work. I thought they needed a treat since I hadn't baked anything all season for them.

The beginning of yumminess!

Oh I hate when this happens ;-)

Warm, soft, fresh cake smell...can you smell it?

Had to be nibbled on as the others got taken out of the load pan!

Cooled
Iced
Sprinkled with candy flowers
Ready to be eaten!

The finished product ready for sweet Jay after a long day at work!

One Dish Dinner!

I love when I can make a warm yummy dinner and not have to wash a gazillion dishes. Tonight we are having Carolina Pulled Chicken, canned green beans (out of my momma and daddies garden) and instant mashed potatoes (I'm still learning ;-)

My lovely sister fixed this recipe for me and I absolutely loved it. So she gave me the recipe and I was so excited. Well I am not sure what happens but every time I go to fix it I can not find the recipe. I promised that this time it would be different. :-) I would copy the recipe from my in-box and laminate it!

This is my lovely sister Heather!

So here are a couple of pictures of the very few ingredients you need and the yummy recipe! Enjoy!

Carolina Pulled Chicken
4 to 6 chicken breasts
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1 tbspn onion powder
1 tbspn garlic salt
2 tbspn brown sugar
1/3 cup honey mustard

Dressing
1/4 cup yellow mustard
1 tbspn cider vinegar
reserved liquid from cooker

Place chicken in bottom of slow cooker. Mix next 5 ingredients together and pour
over chicken. Cover and cook on low 5-6 hrs until chicken is fork tender.
Remove chicken to a cutting board and let stand 10 minutes.
Pour liquid from cooker through sieve (use paper towel over bowl if needed).
Mix about 1/2 cup of liquid with dressing ingredients. Shred chicken into pieces
and toss with dressing mixture.

Winter Wonder Day

Jay's request for a white Christmas arrived around 9:00pm Christmas Day! I squealed so loud when I saw the snowflakes coming down. Even though I was raised in the mountains and saw snow at least once a year I still love to watch it snow. Jay and I wanted to go check things out so we decided to bundle up and see what was happening in Wonderland!

Our decorative candy lane pops decided they couldn't hang in this type of weather!

Jay is saying "Welcome!"

After walking through our neighborhood Jay and I decided to walk to church (so convenient to have church right beside your house). As we crunched through the snow we found some beautiful trees on our adventure!

Church was amazing and then we headed back home. We were both getting cabin fever so we decided to see what was happening in the stores after Christmas. It was a fun filled day enjoying beautiful snow, church and together time!

MERRY CHRISTMAS - To my Wonderful Wife!

So this is the Christmas
The first time in my life
That I get to spend it
With my Wonderful Wife

It's hard to put into words
Exactly how I feel
To be so much in love
It just doesn't seem real

But every morning I wake
And there's your pretty face
I know it's not a dream
I really am in this place

A home full of love
And a wife to adore
I couldn't be happier
I couldn't ask for more

On this Christmas day
I truly am blessed
Cuz the good Lord above
Has made this the best!!
